5 Pointers on Safe Sex

  1. Use a condom every time you have sex, especially with a new partner, to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STI's). A condom is not 100% guaranteed – but it offers good protection.
  2. Limit your number of sexual partners – REMEMBER you do not have to have sex with everyone that you go out with. The more sexual partners, the bigger the gamble to sexual health. For example if a man sleeps with 10 women without protection, the it would be as if the next woman would have sleep with those 10 people indirectly. This has a 'domino' or knock-on effect in terms of increasing STI's.
  3. If you do not want to be a parent – you must use contraception. IT IS BOTH PARTNERS RESPONSIBILITY. Contraception needs to be used carefully.
  4. It's better if young people do not have sex until they are at least 17 or older. They are therefore more mature to make informed choices about sexual relationships.
  5. Everyone can get FREE, confidential advice and information on contraception. Get your contraception and condoms sorted before you start having sex. You can contact Darren with any questions you may have relating to this issue see below:
